My hero would be 301 years old today

Discovering a hero is always cause for a celebration.  During homeschool history review today, we chanced upon the enigmatic and engaging Benjamin Franklin, and I was enthralled.  A colonial Renaissance man, he exhibits many incredible characteristics that defy description: ingenuity, bull-headed determination, and my crowning favorite, frugality.

My initial taste today came from the children’s textbook: The Story of the U. S., by My Father’s World, which sparked a visit to the local library, in which was Franklin’s own autobiography, also available online here.

And, as I adore a blood-pumping quotes, dear Ben has 200 of those!

The U. S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself.

Happy belated birthday, Benjamin!  You have enriched my life today.  You have my thanks, and a smile.
